Science and crystal healing. Atheism and tarot. Frozen eggs and horoscopes. The commingling of secularism and spirituality is bound to be a defining element of the millennial zeitgeist. While the current culture embraces the affair, I often struggle to square the growing New Age earnestness of my peers with their other qualifiers: atheist or agnostic and skeptical. They seem to be proclaiming, “God is dead, but also, I can’t make it to happy hour because I have to recharge my obsidian after work.”
